Our school
The school forms the senior part (KS3/4) of an all age Partnership of special schools; with primary partner Cicely Haughton School. The Partnership meets the needs of pupils with educational, health and care plans for Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties and admissions to the Partnership are managed by the Local Authority's Assessment and Planning Team. The Partnership has one Local Academy Board who report to the Directors of The Manor Hall Academy Trust, the Trust which was originally founded by the Loxley Hall and Cicely Haughton Partnership and now consists of six special schools in Staffordshire.
Loxley Hall School provides 96 planned places for boys 11-16 years old, offering 41 residential places, over four nights a week.
The school is set in magnificent grounds, providing opportunities for safe and secure educational, recreational and sporting activities.
Ambitious school improvement has seen the development of our curriculum in line with the needs of our pupils. Such an enriched curriculum includes a Nurture Unit, Additional Support Unit (offering highly personalised learning) and an Emotional Support Unit, encouraging pupils to self-refer and make sensible choices when in crisis or feeling out of control. These diverse opportunities are underpinned by Dyslexia friendly status and practices.
Loxley Hall School is split over two sites with KS4 provision being at Armitage - a facility for our Year 10 and Year 11 students whose learning is divided between school and college; enabling such students access to individual learning programmes that include opportunities for work related vocational courses, as well as GCSE's. Most year 11 students access courses at their local college, supported by school staff, in preparation for when they leave school.
The residential provision replicates, as closely as possible, family living, in houses on the school grounds. Students who require additional support in their social and emotional development, can access residential education, for two evenings a week. This process is managed by a school admissions panel and monitored and quality assured by the Local Authority.
